Family violence as a product of economic precariousness in the town center of Quispiñicas, Huancavelica – 2023

Abstract

Family violence is a social phenomenon that affects millions of people around the world. It is a pattern of abusive behavior that is exercised by one family member towards another, and that can manifest itself in various ways: physical, psychological, sexual, economic and emotional. This problem is exacerbated by a complex interaction of social, cultural, economic and political factors.  Therefore, this article has the objective of knowing the economic income of families as a risk factor for family violence in the Quispiñicas Population Center - Huancavelica in the year 2023. The methodology corresponds to a quantitative approach, with a simple descriptive level with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The technique used was the survey and the instrument applied was a questionnaire to 46 residents who were heads of families. The results show the low family economic income (2,200.00) is exceeded by the expenses of the family basket (2,500.00), thus generating constant arguments between spouses, which in turn triggers conflicts and actions of family violence. It is concluded that the precarious economic situation of the residents of the Quispiñicas Population Center is a risk factor that induces family violence, since the lack of stable income, job insecurity and the difficulty in covering basic needs generate marital arguments that trigger violent conflicts and alter power relations.
