Abstract

It is important to know the useful life of galvanized steel sheets widely used by the population and the industry of the city of Jauja. Galvanized steel has allowed the human being to use it as a construction material for housing roofs, thus maintaining and adopting their quality of life. For this reason, it is necessary to know the corrosion resistance of such material in the current conditions of the place of residence, from this knowledge it will be possible to establish alternatives that counteract the negative effects of corrosion to this type of materials. In the present study of evaluation of the corrosion of galvanized steel in plates of 0. 21 mm standard, the kinetics of corrosion is evaluated by the gravimetric method with seven samples of galvanized steel plates of 5 inches by one inch, which were exposed to the environment of the city of Jauja, registering the loss of weight of each sample in intervals of time that lasted from eight to 60 days, With the results obtained, we proceeded to the modeling of the evaluation of the corrosion kinetics using the numerical method of the LAGRANGE interpolating polynomial and graphing it in a coordinate axis system to observe the useful life time of the galvanized protection which is 50 days and also observing that the galvanized protection comes to an end between day 50 to 60, from day 70 an accelerated corrosion of the steel begins.
