Abstract

Lime is a chemical compound of great use in agriculture, industry and mining; in Peru lime consumption is high, ational production does not supply the  needs, so this product is imported from other countries, Angasmayo is a populated center of the Chupaca province of the Junin region, where a large quarries of good quality calcium carbonates are found for their products. According to the samples obtained, they are classified into Mudstone, Packstone and Wackstone with a range of 93 % to 97 % of total carbonates.

The study evaluates the variables involve in the calcination process, looking for the appropriate time for the calcination process, according to the granulometry and operating temperature, determining an empirical relationship that models the radius of advance of the calcination process, then defines the ranges for each variable and proceeds to the mathematical modeling by means of a factorial design, obtaining the mathematical formula that governs the process and analyzes the variables that have the greatest impact on the process, determining the calcination rate based on the percentage of conversion, defining the kinetic  parameters of granulometry ( no greater than 2 inches), Temperature (900 °C) and operating time (120 minutes); these parameters lead to a higher process efficiency and must be considered when designing kilns for the production of lime from calcium carbonates of Angasmayo.
