Abstract

This research aims to contribute to the automation of manufacturing processes, which in our area is still being done manually, with a high degree of imprecision, industriousness and labor risks for executing the task. It involves using the air pressure energy to develop effective work in the process of drilling and grooving wooden blocks in the woodworking industry. To solve the problem, it has been thought of how difficult it is to run the carpenter boxes or slots laboriously practiced, these boxes serve subsequently assembled with dowels, thus form the joints in furniture. The prototype is designed at the solution to a largescale, repetitive work, work that can be automated, achieving substantial advantages over manual work, obtaining better results in finish quality, product consistency and reduced manufacturing time. A pneumatic circuit composed of command and control elements and actuators allows synchronization of movements, the same as having the function of supplying the material to be processed, secure with the force required to generate a smooth reciprocation of the table, driving the drill with the strength and adequate forward speed, all in a given time, controlled by a pneumatic timer and once the process of drilling and grooving drill back to its initial position. As it is possible to see the prototype can contribute to solving the problem of processing industry of wood easily and securely to improve quality and revenues in carpentry workshops in the region.
