The purpose of this research is to experimentally between a shell and a tube exchanger. The results of the overall coefficient were analyzed using the dimensionless groups of variables involved in the heat exchange. Experiments were carried out by heating water with steam in a shell and tube exchanger. In addition, the variables involved in the heat exchange were grouped using the method of repeating variables and Buckingham Pi theorem. With the results and the dimensionless groups, independent regression analysis of the dimensionless groups of interest to others that vary were conducted. It was observed that the overall coefficient of heat transmission changes with temperature difference of hot and cold fluids. And the minimum value is 1041 W/ m2 º C, the maximum 4870 W/m2 º C, and the average 3102 W/m2 ° C. In addition, we observed that the dimensionless groups that contain the variables of the phenomenon of transfer in the heat exchanger vary within an acceptable range.
