ADVANCED POTATO CLONES (Solanum tuberosum L.) FOR YIELD AND RESISTANCE TO RANCHA (Phytophthora infestans) (Mont.) de Bary

Abstract

Late blight is the most important limiting factor in potato production worldwide this disease has reached epidemic proportions in many areas and chemical control being a preventive measure and not a cure, it is necessary to include varieties with resistance to late blight in an integrated management plan of the disease. The main objectives were to determine the degree of resistance and to identify clones that represent good performance. It was used as experimental material, advanced clones from population A, the clones were tested for resistance to late blight under high disease incidence in the field. The experimental design is of BCR with 4 replications and 30 treatments during the growing season 6 readings were made of the percentage of infection after 45 days with intervals of 7 days to determine the AUDPC as a measure of strength, As the tuber performance were evaluated: (kg / plant). The results showed that all clones were affected in different degrees of resistance and yield clones being selected for the high level of horizontal resistance to Phytophthora infestans 381403.29, 387093.5, 391133.2, 387096.2 and 39247.19 and high yields of 37.5, 41 , 5, 27.4, 38.6 and 42.1 t / ha respectively, also showed excellent characteristics of plant and tuber.
