Abstract

Pulmonary hydatidosis is a very common zoonosis in pediatric age with worldwide distribution, especially in rural and agricultural areas such as the department of Junín. The objective was to describe the characteristics of pulmonary hydatidosis in children at the Hospital Nacional Ramiro Prialé Prialé - Huancayo between 2013 and 2017. The study was clinical applicative, with a descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 36 hospitalized patients in the Pediatrics service, who met the selection criterio during the study period. It was determined that the frequency of pulmonary hydatidosis in pediatrics represented 0.56 % of all hospitalizations during the mean age of 8,5 years, where 63,89 % were male. The most frequent epidemiological antecedent is the breeding of dogs in 62,50 %, followed by get licked by dogs in 25,00 %, the clinical findings are cough in 97.22 %, fever in 86,11 %, dyspnea in 77,78 % and hemoptisis in 55,56 %. The radiological findings are the presence of a single cyst in 42,78 % and the most frequent location is the right lung in 59,26 % and the sign of the camalot is found in 50 %, the most frequent complication is percystic pneumonia in 83,33 %,  followed by pleural effusion in 25 %.
