Abstract

Each profession, whatever it may be, in our country has a series of rules and values that guide us as professionals, that distinguish us from others and that is the oath we take at the time of graduation, hence each one also has a professional secret to protect and that it is the legal, ethical-moral obligation to keep secret the information that they have received from their clients, users or patients. Contrary to what happens with other types of confidentiality duties, professional secrecy is maintained even in a criminal trial and will only be revealed when so ordered by the judge or public prosecutor at a hearing or in writing. Among these professionals, it is worth mentioning as more typical cases such as the lawyer, the doctor, the psychologist, the journalist or the social worker. However, there may also be other cases of advisors or services that have this type of obligation, such as tax advisors (sometimes included within lawyers) or insurance companies.
