Perception of the virtual idiosyncrasy of the social networks of students of female schools

The perception of the virtual idiosyncrasy of social networks in 4th and 5th year high school students of girls' schools in the city of Huancayo was analyzed. This was a basic, descriptive study. We worked with a sample of 240 students from four girls' schools between 14 and 18 years of age, who were administered an online questionnaire on perception of virtual idiosyncrasy consisting of five dimensions with 25 items. The results showed that 48.8% of the students use social networks every day, only 30% participate regularly in virtual communities, 80% of the students adjust their privacy settings, although 35% are not clear on how to properly manage these settings, 15% of the students do not regularly modify their passwords. In sum, social networks have become a fundamental part of their daily lives, there is a high frequency and interaction in the use of social networks, students participate in virtual activities in various ways, they build their digital identity mainly through content consumption and have a somewhat ambiguous perception about online privacy and security. There are still critical areas that need more education and awareness to ensure a safe and well-informed online experience.
