Abstract

We analysed the relationship between the score obtained in the entrance exam and the academic performance score of students entering the Universidad Nacional del Centro del Perú during the years 2017 to 2018. A nonexperimental transectional correlational study was designed. Through simple random sampling, 202 students who entered during 6 admission periods between 2017 and 2018 were selected. The results showed a weak but significant correlation between the study variables (rs = .153, p = .03). These results suggest that the score obtained in the admission test does not predict with total clarity the academic performance that the student may develop in the university.
