Abstract

With the intention of understanding the characteristics that produce the digital gap in the access, use and appropriation of the ICT and social networks from the experience of the women of la Unión Comunal de Emprendedoras y Artesanas Rurales Mapuche, from Padre Las Casas Commune, the Araucania Region, in the period of the sanitary emergency caused by the COVID-19, in the year 2020, this study arises, since the massive use of the ICT and social networks has increased due to the context of the pandemic.

The purpose is to present the perceptions of women of this organization in relation to the digital gap that originates from different factors such as: where they live, age range and human capital. According to the methodology, our study is qualitative-exploratory in relation with the realities of eleven women interviewed in both rural and urban areas. The main result is that there are still digitally isolated areas. As a result, we focused on the public policy of the Digital Agenda, where we hope that it can provide solutions to the families that face this problem, due to the fact that there are still digital inequalities in our study population
