Afrontamiento y calidad de vida en salud de pacientes oncológicos

Se considera que la aplicación de acertadas formas de afrontamiento por parte del paciente con cáncer puede llevarle a conservar su calidad de vida en salud, sin embargo, los resultados sobre esta asociación no son concluyentes. Se siguió la metodología de efectuar escrutinio de literatura científica sobre el afrontamiento y la calidad de vida publicados en los diez últimos años, en la base de datos PubMed y SCOPUS, las búsquedas tuvieron las siguientes características: «Coping characteristics in cancer patients», «Health-related quality of life in cancer patients» y «Association between coping and health-related quality of life in cancer patients», se seleccionaron 36 artículos correspondientes a los últimos 10 años. En los resultados, se presentan los hallazgos del material científico analizado bajo la forma de la conceptualización temática. Se concluye en que: se encuentra que los pacientes emplean diversas estrategias de afrontamiento, muchas de ellas no son las adecuadas. Se halla que el cáncer por sus características afecta de manera progresiva la calidad de vida en salud, sobre todo en el área física. Existe asociación entre las estrategias de afrontamiento adaptativas con la conservación de la calidad de en los pacientes oncológicos; esto se da cuando la enfermedad está en sus primeros estadios.
