Worldwide, diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases are experiencing an exponential increase in their prevalence rates, and these are risk factors for the appearance of metabolic syndrome, which in turn increase the risk of chronic noncommunicable diseases. The research sought to identify anthropometric indicators (body mass index and abdominal circumference) as cardio metabolic markers. A descriptive cross-sectional study was designed, the sample size was 486 patients 52.9% male and 47.1% female between 22 and 90 years of age. Socio-demographic data and anthropometric measurements (BMI and abdominal circumference) were collected. The results showed that 40.5% were overweight, with the highest percentage in males, and 15.6% of the patients showed obesity. This suggests that patients with overweight and obesity present altered abdominal circumference. This indicates a degree of predisposition to a series of clinical conditions, among which diabetes mellitus, risk of suffering several types of cancer and arterial hypertension stand out, which as a whole, which together give rise to a conglomerate of cardio-metabolic complications.
