Improvement of Management through the Implementation of the Odoo ERP System in Ferretería Figueroa

Abstract

This research evaluates the impact of implementing the Odoo ERP system at Ferretería Figueroa, a Peruvian SME in the retail sector, to improve inventory management, the sales process, and customer service by automating key processes. The study used a longitudinal non-experimental design, combining direct observation, employee and frequent customer surveys, and data analysis before and after ERP implementation. The sample included 10 employees directly involved in the automated processes and 50 frequent customers, who provided feedback on perceived changes in service. The results indicate that the implementation of the system reduced the inventory error rate from 20% to 5%, decreased the average billing time from 7 to 3 minutes, and increased customer satisfaction by 25% by centralizing information and streamlining service. It is concluded that open source ERP systems, such as Odoo, are effective and viable tools for improving the efficiency and competitiveness of SMEs, especially those with limited resources. This study provides a replicable model for other companies facing similar operational management challenges.
